For the past few months I have been in Ullapool on the Bridge House Art winter course. And what an amazing time I've had! My most recent project has focused on the village's rooks. These amazing birds can live up to twenty years and are very gregarious, gathering in ‘parliaments’ or ‘congregations’ on trees and rooftops. As you will have seen in my last newsflash, I’m now deep in the Bridge House winter course. I’m really loving the intensity of the experience, the expert tuition and my wonderful fellow-students (ten women, all amazing!). In Term 1, we studied still life, drawing, charcoal, oil and acrylic painting, printing, artists’ books, paper sculptures and much more. I’m delighted to have been accepted on the Winter Course at Bridge House Art - a small, independent art school in the north west highlands of Scotland, which offers a rich and varied programme of courses in the visual arts. This means that I am living in Ullapool from end October 2025 ‘til early March 2026.
