Thank you for your interest in my work. Inspired by my surroundings, I enjoy creating felt art, photography (both digital and camera-less), printing, collage, multi-media ... and more!

If you're interested in purchasing or commissioning something, please get in touch. I'm happy to arrange postage for a minimal extra charge.

My Vision

I am inspired by the patterns, movement and ever-changing dramatic light of the unique place I now call my home - the Outer Hebrides off the west coast of Scotland. Remote and elemental, this is a place of savage seas, huge skies and bleak peatlands.

I'm Philly, born in 1957, English, and an adventurer at heart! I have degrees in Applied Social Sciences and English/Philosophy, and, though now retired, a career spent helping to enable people with disabilities or dementia to have their voices heard. I have three adult sons (all based now on different continents) and a wonderful wee grandson in Germany. I have travelled a lot in my life and I love anything outdoors – sea swimming, running, hiking, bird and whale watching, and camping.

Originally from Salisbury, England, and having lived for 35 years in North Yorkshire, I moved to Ness on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland, during the pandemic in 2020.  My inspiration comes from my new home – an elemental place of huge energy and contrasts. Being out on the land; feeling the squelch of peat beneath my feet; being enveloped and tossed by the sea; being buffeted by the winds; feeling small beneath enormous skies.

To translate all this, I use (and sometimes combine) a wide range of media, which enables me to be more exploratory and experimental, and to embed my experience of my environment into my art.

I have completed Year 1 of a Fine Art Degree (UHI) based on North Uist, and I exhibit regularly on the Islands as an active member of Open Studios Hebrides.
